Melissa Albers is the Assistant Director of Fitness & Aquatics at the Cleveland State University Rec Center.  She is also a POUND Fitness ICON. Ever since she was a little girl, Melissa has always been active through sports and playing outside with her neighborhood friends.  It wasn’t until she was pursuing her undergraduate degree at Ohio University when she started taking group fitness classes at the recreation center and quickly fell in love. Within a year she had become certified and began leading classes.

Melissa has a Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in Kinesiology and Health Promotion.  She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Sport Sciences. Melissa’s professional experience includes corporate fitness and wellness, university campus recreation specializing in fitness and wellness programming and services, and an extensive background in a variety of group exercise instruction as well as one-on-one and small group training.

Melissa always strives to help everyone she encounters in their own health and fitness FEEL their best.  When teaching POUND fitness class, Melissa aspires to give others the opportunity to let go of their worries and concerns, to be themselves, and to not be afraid of what others think.  Thus allowing them to have fun, let loose, make noise, and truly unleash their inner rockstar.
