Trista Smith is a 7th grade science teacher in Brunswick, Ohio as well as a yoga teacher in the evenings. She completed her 200 hour YTT with Marni Task back in 2014 at The Yoga Room in Cleveland, Ohio.

Trista doesn't wait for the slow wheels of the public education system to introduce new programs. When she believes that a new idea or program will benefit students she moves ahead using her inspiration and passion to make it a reality. Through her training and degrees she understood the benefits of getting more students outside and learning about sustainably grown, whole foods so she created a schoolyard garden at her school. Understanding the benefits of mindfulness she with her coworker applied for and received a grant to provide mindfulness professional development to the district. This grant will be used to buy mindfulness resources to put in each building for teachers to access.  They will hold a 3 hour PD for those that sign up to learn how to use the resources as well as mindfulness techniques for students and themselves.

She teaches yoga and mindfulness in her classrooms at school and at the studio!  Trista is also a volunteer for the Medina County Parks District.  The link between science and the mind-body connection influences her yoga classes. Providing students the opportunity to learn ways to recognize their thoughts through breathing and yoga are her passion!
